Samuel C Lees has worked closely with Trev Wilkinson over the past few years, not only in the research and development of the "R" Series pickups, but also road-testing many Wilkinson products across a wide range of genres, including his role as frontman for the rock legends “Ten Years After”.

Samuel’s artist-choice pickup set gives you the ability to move from rock to jazz and beyond, drawing influence not only from classic players but also from many of Wilkinson’s own artists—people Samuel has had the honour of working with in his role in artist relations for Wilkinson’s extensive roster of friends and endorsees.

Samuel’s choice of a Caliber 7484 covered humbucking, slightly overwound neck pickup—mounted in the bridge position—provides more bite than the classic PAF-style pickup typically found at the bridge. It allows you to achieve a sparkling clean tone while still delivering the bluesy grit expected from this style of humbucker, all controlled via your volume knob.

In the middle position, Samuel has chosen a Caliber 7179 single-coil pickup. This is Trev’s “era-correct” powerful single-coil, offering classic mid-'70s tonality when used alone. When combined with either of the other two pickups, it delivers crisp, funky tones and the sought-after out-of-phase solo sound.

In the neck position, Samuel has selected the classic Caliber 5761, delivering smooth, bluesy voicing right at your fingertips. With its low-gain output, it allows your tone to breathe and sing beautifully, offering a warm yet focused voice. Rolling back the tone control produces a full jazz tone, completing the tonal palette of a true workhorse guitar.
